Alexander Presthus

I’m a Norwegian developer and hobby entrepreneur currently based in Italy. I've always worked with or on computers in some fashion. After working as an IT technician for several years I took the plunge and co-founded a mobile games startup. It turns out that succeeding in such a hyper competitive space is really hard, so we branched out and started offering web development services after being struggling artists for a while.

I fell in love with the rapid feedback & iteration world of web development, as well as the ability to integrate my interest for design and making things look decent. Right now, I'm looking for a position in web dev where I can grow as a developer and hopefully work on some exciting new tings. I've never lost my inner entrepreneur however and have built a few side projects that also helped me improve my web dev skills. Be sure to check them out, to see what I can do!

When I'm not coding or creating I spend most of my time with my wife and daughter even though I do occassionally dabble in things like chess, martial arts or team sports.

    This is a CMS I built from scratch with a fully featured content creation tool suite such as a rich text editor that can handle inline images or embedded videos. The CMS also features a media library solution for easy integration and publishing of media such as images or videos. It uses Google Firestore and Google Cloud in the back-end. It connects to the front end either as a traditional REST API with multiple end points or with the custom built GraphQL server and endpoint. This portfolio’s content is 100% powered by Ember CMS!

  • Your Special Sound

    User Created Sound Art.

    Full Shopify integration

    Your Special Sound (YSS) is my custom made e-commerce business which sells personalized wall art based on sound from audio or video. The storefront and low friction design tools allows customers to create their own print to treasure a special occasion or as a great gift or even a surprise, like a proposal! The tools are completely custom built on top of the HTML5 Canvas API, the e-commerce solution in the back end is powered by Shopify and customer data is stored with Firebase. I’ve also built a custom fulfilment portal (more on that in the next project).

    To further automate your special sound I wanted a staff only portal which could take the low resolution designs the customers made in the Your Special Design tools and turn them into high resolution print ready images automatically. It was paramount that the final image was "pixel perfect" and a completely accurate copy of what the customer initially designed using the design tools.
